Knees end former UO QB Costa’s police career

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The sore knees that ended Nate Costa’s playing days as the University of Oregon’s quarterback have also ended his career plans as a police officer in Springfield. He tweaked a knee Aug. 22 while running an obstacle course on the first day of training at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem. Costa says doctors advised him to pull out of the academy.
